Nannorrhops ritchiana - Mazari Palm

From Afghanistan and surrounding areas, this fan palm still remains somewhat of a mystery, as it seems no one is quite sure how cold-hardy it actually is. A hot, dry climate, well-draining soil and a sunny exposure are probably necessary for this palm to tolerate the extremely cold temperatures it is rumored to have survived. The Mazari palm can grow to 20 feet with a crown of stiff, blue-gray costapalmate leaves. It's worth a try in colder areas with the proper climate.
